In addition to my original music, I write commissioned pieces for individuals and organizations. These include personalized songs for weddings, birthday and holiday celebrations, anniversaries, work conferences, and other special occasions!

I recently contributed to the score for the short film Dear Simone, which also features my song “Doors”. The trailer, released March 2022, is below!

Short Film Score • This film from photographer/trail runner/Grand Canyon park ranger Jesse Barden was debuted at the May 2020 Trail Running Film Fest as a “Filmmakers In Lockdown” finalist. I had a wonderful time writing the score for this short film and collaborating with Jesse!

Jesse wrote about the process on his website’s charming and inspiring Delight Diary:

A month and a half into home quarantine my very first short film debuted at the Trail Running Film Festival. It was fun to see the film alongside a dozen others, knowing close to 4,000 others were watching, but the real delight came in the process of creating it. I suddenly had a sense of purpose and a creative outlet, not to mention motivation to run even more than I already was. But collaborating with Julia Mark on the music was the highlight of the experience. An hour after a quick FaceTime to talk about the vision she sent me a track. A second one followed shortly after. What she sent me far exceeded my own ideas for the music, and I spent the next few hours plugging it into the film. I completed the finishing touches the following morning and added her song “Six Feet Apart” to the credits. I watched the final product with pure delight, as her music totally transformed the film.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Company holiday song Testimonial from Hollye at AHM Brands (January 2021)

“I reached out to Julia on short notice to write and perform a song for my company’s holiday party. We have 25 employees and I wanted to give a shout out to each person and express our company culture and values. Julia’s work exceeded anything I’d hoped for. Not only did she turn it around over the course of just a few days, but she captured the essence of our team in a playful, lighthearted yet grateful and sincere way. Ultimately, she delivered a video of her performing the song on the piano with lyrics included on the screen, which was perfect for our online celebration this year. It was such a joy to see my colleagues grinning and laughing as the video played – it really set the stage for us coming together to celebrate each other.

Julia’s presence is authentic and personable. Working with her was incredibly enjoyable. She was professional, thorough, communicative, open to feedback and collaboration, enthusiastic and all-around good-natured. Her talent was evident throughout all aspects of the project – the timeline, the process, the lyrics, the performance and the final delivery. I am excited about the prospect of working with her again in the future and hope the opportunity to do so comes sooner than later. Thank you Julia!”

Educational ditty • For this project, I worked with a wonderful team at the non-profit Groundwork USA. The goal: to craft a catchy and informative song about equitable community engagement. Although the topic was a departure from my usual subject matter, I felt inspired by the mission of Groundwork USA. For the final recording, I collaborated with other local artists (Forrest Pettengill on bass and The Video Garage behind the camera/editing software) to create this special music video.
